Tristram Denyer was the man who took the flotilla size into triple figures when he registered his Bavaria 37, Iseulta, in the Sailing Division for the race, which is scheduled for July 23 – 30.

This is my fifth Regatta Week,” Denyer said, “& there was no way we weren’t going to be there this year for the 25th Anniversary celebrations. It’s the best race – we’ve an absolute ball every time we’re there, & I’m certain this year will be no different. The racing is super, the camaraderie ‘tween the crews exceptional, & the post regatta parties 2nd to no one.”

Iseulta’s entry besides brought high level of satisfaction for the Regatta Week organisers. The scold of entries is 20 percent up on what was achieved at this stage last year. That race saw record flotilla of 216 sailboats on the starting line.

‘The signs are very encouraging for this year’s event,” said the Regatta Chairman, Denis Thompson. “The 25th anniversary celebrations are clearly bringing added appeal for participants, so much so that on actual projections we could see flotilla of about 250.”

Tristram Denyer echoed Denis Thompson’s words, saying the improvements that came both on & off the water last year, & the significance of it being the Gold Jubilee this year, made Regatta Week even more of ‘must do’ on his boating agenda.

His attitude to the racing – where the crew includes his wife, Gail – besides reflects the wide-based appeal that Bmw Hamilton Isle Regatta Week holds with seamans from all levels of the sport: “we will be irritating to win, but it won’t truly matter if we don’t. Having good time is what Regatta Week is all around for us. Notwithstanding, we’ll be boating small harder than standard this year as friend has agreed to unite the crew on the proviso that he can change our exhausted elderly 2nd-hand gennaker with new one. So, when you see ‘chute emblazoned with ‘Zing Space Environmental Consultants’ you’ll understand it’s us.”

As Regatta Week approaches Hamilton Isle is continuing to expand in spectacular fashion via larger upgrades in accommodation, & the developing of new facilities. Among the new projects being undertaken is the spectacular 18-hole Hamilton Isle Golf Course, & the evocative Hamilton Isle Boat Society complex. The 1st significant developing to be established under the new plan, ‘qualia’, is world category resort situated on the secluded northerly-most tip of the isle.

Bmw Hamilton Isle Regatta Week is Australia’s most granted race. It has been recognised as Queensland’s ‘Best Significant Event’ at the annual Queensland Tourism Grants on three occasions, & besides captivated out two Australian Tourism Grants. ”
